I'm dreaming of a white Easter.....
One of the "joys" of living in northern New York is that we have late season snow falls. We have been known to have a white Mother's Day.
A few warmish days arrive to tease us that spring is coming. The brave crocuses and tulips send up tentative green spikes...just checking things out. But then, before they dare to blossom, they are coated in white and pause until better days appear.
Meanwhile we humans have stopped wearing boots, gotten out the lighter weight jackets, and some of use have dared to have our snow tires removed. It seems like a real affront, when we have to revert to winter jackets, gloves and boots. Today is one of those insulting days. The wind is biting, snow is descending, and it feels all wrong!
One would think that those of us who are long-term residents wouldn't get our hopes up before Memorial Day, but we always do. I'm not sure what we would talk about, if not the weather. Personally, I'd be willing to search out another topic, if this one wasn't the first thing everyone brings up after the greeting.
Spring always comes....eventually.
