Usually when I wake up in the morning and realize the other side of the bed is empty, I feel sad. This morning, I actually started to laugh and feel grateful I hadn’t lost my mind and married a pompous ass.
I had awakened the
first time about 4 am and couldn’t get back to sleep, so I worked on some New
York Times Puzzles. About 6:30, I fell
back to sleep, and when I woke up the next time, it was after a crazy dream.
In my dream, I was
married to a man who looked nothing like Bill.
He was shorter and stockier. We
were dressed up as though coming from church.
He was wearing a suit. I had on a
dress with a coat of some type over it. We
got out of a car and headed into a house via a garage where the door was
up.
He entered the
garage first. I had stopped outside the
door to look at a flower, so he reached the back of the garage just as I was
entering. He pushed the button to close
the door, and it came down on me hitting me in the back and knocking me to the
floor. He never noticed and went into
the house.
I had trouble
getting up on my own. I called out to
him, but he paid no attention. I crawled
across the floor a bit, repeatedly calling to him. I finally managed to get up on my own.
When I found him
in the house and told him what had happened, he did not apologize and express concern
for my well-being. Instead, he went into
a monologue about how he had been in the military and entered many secure
facilities, and he had to know complicated codes to enter on a keypad to get
in.
I screamed at him,
something I never did in 54 years of marriage to Bill, “Have you lost your
ever-lovin’ mind? This isn’t a military facility; it is someone’s home! You just punched the button for a garage door
opener!”
I woke up, realized
I was alone, and was so grateful, that I started to laugh.
I hope you’re
getting a laugh too and not attempting to psychoanalyze me by my dreams.
